Yes Oh!

I've been off line for a minute but I don't expect such a long hiatus like this again ! The happenings in Anambra state have been very interesting over the past couple of weeks. I must say that the future has a strange way of unfolding especially when the truth is suppressed. I am elated and very happy that Peter Obi has taken over the mantle of leadership (again!) for the second time in more than 18 months. After all Anambrarians had gone thru it was very surprising to see fellow Ibo's excited about having Mr Andy Uba in the government house in Awka. It was disgusting and saddening that well respected elders in the a state, certain citizens of Nigeria and even so called "groups in diaspora" wasted no time in sending congratulatory messages to Mr Uba even camping out in Awka. This same man that has a brother that is in dire need of psychoanalytical therapy? A brother that has held the honor and respect of a whole state in question. Disappointment is not a feeling for me anymore, especially when it concerns Nigerians, I'm fighting the numbing feeling and don't want to give up. Well for now I know I can't give up because I see him! YEAH ! He has a great smile ! Who? Peter Obi for sure ! He is the man with the last laugh ! I know there is HOPE !

And the Winner is ?

Well like I thought, in Nigeria democracy, elections and voting has been severely wounded! Time of recovery is really unknown. There is much to learn from the presidential elections that just passed. The will of the common man in Nigeria is of no consequence to those individuals who cling to power and bend doubly backwards to hold on to it. Violence, fraud, malpractice, lies and deception are commonplace here. Where is the way forward?
Though in Africa and Nigeria in particular respect for elders and folks of greater age is stressed, most unbelievable atrocities are committed by the older folks. What kind of example is been set for the future of tomorrow? Do these men and women even give a darn about tomorrow? As we move ahead in light of this grossly mismanaged "charade" called the April 21st presidential elections, Nigerians are in again for another four years of mismanged national revenue and manpower; the will of the people to survive has been dented yet again. I'm afraid this time almost to a fatal point !
The irony on April 21st was that France had also gone through the same electoral process of choosing a leader.
There is a difference between a people that know what it takes to survive and those that have no clue what survival means ! Can you tell whose whom here ?
I guess you can !

Tomorrow is pregnant

Well lets see what will happen on the 21st of April, who from all the contenders who will be the biggest rigger with the most voracious "THUGS" ? As the stage is been set for the next four years of poor leadership and mismanaged ideaologies, tomorrow will be the activities will be the deciding factor as a new era of African democratic Govt is ushered in. Lets wait and see. If you are a registered voter please go out and vote to satisfy your conscience and fufill your civic duties. But will it make a difference if you vote or not? well who knows?

What Election?

The 14th of April 2007 was meant to signify the day that Nigerians took a bold step towards true democracy, it was a day that a lot of eligible voters hoped they could use their votes for once and truly speak out against oppression, poverty, corruption and the innumerable ills that personify Nigerian daily life today. But do you think they were successful? April 14th in my opinion has marked a day that will be etched in our memories for a long time to come.
Memorable because those dreams of speaking out with votes were terribly dashed. Smashed into smithereens beyond recognition and a repeat performance will be expected this coming Saturday (21st of April) that marks the presidential elections! To say there were no elections would be to sugar coat the mass rigging, violence and despicable actions that was the norm of the day. In Enugu the capital of Enugu state for example, election materials arrived at 4:15pm! Expected Time of Delivery : 8:00am ! In Anambra state the did not arrive at all ! These are just two examples from the south east part of the country. In The North the same thing happened but with some twist. There were incidents of " Thugs carried the ballot boxes and ran away" . Thugs? Where did these thugs come from? After Our leaders assured us that they had made all preparations to keep law and order in check on this particularly important day ! Thugs? According to media reports there were 2000 voters per Policeman in voting booths ! Thugs?
We will wait and see what happens in the next couple of days. Meanwhile, the electoral body responsible for this grand charade has been releasing results ! Yes, actual results ! Of what? Thug activity I may presume because if you ask me- there were no elections on the 21st of April 2007.
This is the grand entry that this new administration is making. Are they going to be different from what is in place now.
My gut feeling says no way ! Should we give them the benefit of a doubt ? Its meant for you to decide. Experience has thought me that in life people rarely change! In Nigeria the almost never do! Elections ? what elections!

Welcome !

This blog was created for the mere purpose of providing a forum to discuss the way forward for Nigerias new found democratic ideals. As we stir ahead with much anticipation and hope for free, fair and a slightly less violent voting process that takes place in the next couple of days, there is a need to reflect on the past 8 years of democracy. Hoping that what lies ahead in our countries future is a healthy birth, inundated with joyful cries of success, peace and prosperity for all.
